Jimmys Irish Coffee - Swinford

The original Jimmys drive-thru speciality coffee shop was given a face-lift in early October to match the branding in the Ballina location. We helped the owners transform this location through the night so there was no disruption to service! A light stone gravel chip was delivered and we used railway sleepers to hold this in place until the kerbing could be completed at a later date. We softened the hard standing with one large central planters and two smaller planters closer to the wall adjoining the pavement next to the road. Aside from the three planters under the canopy, we installed a long narrow planter next to the walk up hatch with trellis and scented climbers to provide screening from the road. The design includes a mix of shade-tolerant evergreens, perennials and bulbs to provide a succession of flowers throughout the seasons.

Some of the planters are not directly under the canopy and therefore receive some direct sunlight and/or rain (depending on the weather, this can all be in the same day) and therefore we had a few more options for planting than we did at the Ballina location.

The plant list included Miscanthus sinensis ‘Morning Light’, Dryopteris atrata, Liriope muscari ‘Monroe White’, Carex ‘frosted curls’, Heuchera spp., and Geranium ‘Dreamland’ (shown in the photograph of a single planter).

In contrast to the two smaller planters that are closer to the road, the larger middle planter contains Hosta abiqua ‘Drinking gourd’, Astrantia major ‘Star of Beauty’, Anemone x hybrdia ‘Honorine Jobert’ and Blechnum spicant ferns in addition to Geranium macrorrhizum, Hedera helix, and several Dryopteris spp.

All three of the planters contain a range of spring flowering bulbs such as Tulip ‘Spring Green’, Narcissus ‘Mount Hood’ and Tulip ‘White Emperor’.

The stone gravel was supplied by Feelystone in Boyle. Compost and sleepers came from Homeland. All plants were sourced from Tully Nurseries and bulbs were supplied from Farmer Gracy.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:

“Wild Atlantic Gardens was top class. We didn’t even need to give too much of an outline but were guided through exactly what we needed for the area we had. It was a challenge for us to get the right plants as we had a lot of shaded areas but Sarah knew exactly what to do. The results have been incredible and have brought our business to life. Literally!! Can not recommend them any more!”
